All About Brand Reps

 If you are active on social media, you are no stranger to the terms "brand reps" and "brand enthusiasts". But what are they and how can your little girl be chosen? 

What is a Brand Rep? 

A brand rep is a chosen person that represents a brand for a given period of time. This representation consists of advertising on social media outlets through word of mouth and providing photos. In the children's fashion arena, the brand rep will receive products at no cost in exchange for advertising and photos. 

What is a Brand Enthusiast? 

A brand enthusiast is a chosen person who represents the company and helps advertise on social media and through word of mouth. Rather than receiving free products, the brand enthusiast will receive a generous discount on products in exchange for advertising and photos. 

 Now that we are all on the same page, lets talk about applying to be a brand rep. As a clothing brand, we are constantly being sent emails and photos of little girls. Mom or Grandma is inquiring on how they can get their daughter/granddaughter into modeling or if they can model for our brand.  At Be Girl, we choose to run a Brand Rep contest twice a year. Photos can be submitted for one month before the chosen few are announced. We choose one brand rep each search and a couple brand enthusiasts. 

How do I get picked?

There are a handful of attributes that we look for when selecting our Brand Team. We can not speak for all boutiques, but it will be assumed that we all are like minded when choosing our representation. 

The following are the top characteristics we look for...

1. Clear, crisp photos. A good quality photo is very important. Many boutiques want to use the photo to advertise on social media and to list on their website. 

2. Good placement of the article of clothing. The photos need to highlight the article of clothing, not the child. We always like photos when the girls are standing so you can see the outfit and how it lays and moves. 

3. Social Media exposure! This is HUGE! Brand reps need to have an audience. We love when our reps can cross post on Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, Snapchat or Pinterest. The more involvement in different social media channels the better. The larger the following the better, this is great exposure and advertising for us and how we benefit in the brand rep relationship. 

4. And of course we are looking for a girl who is not camera shy! We love confidence, smiles and twirls. We love to see the personality of our clothing coming out in a child's photo. 

Where do I start?

You may be wondering how you can get started. You may not be a photographer or you may not have a large following on social media, but you have a little girl who would be a perfect rep. Where do you start? Now what?

The best advice is to create social media accounts for your daughter/grandaughter.  This can be a space where you post photos of her in her favorite outfits. You can start by taking clear, cell phone photos and posting them on her accounts. It is best to tag the companies of the clothing and accessories she is wearing to get their attention. This is also a place to repost photos or coupon codes from your favorite brands. This will keep your audience coming back!
